Police and the Shin Bet announced that a prosecutor’s declaration has been filed against an Israeli citizen from Bat Yam in his 30s, suspected of committing serious security offenses involving contact with Iranian intelligence officials.

The suspect was arrested in May following a joint investigation by the Shin Bet and the Ayalon district crime-fighting unit. During the investigation, authorities said the suspicion strengthened that in the months before his arrest, the man had been in contact with Iranian intelligence elements and carried out various security-related tasks for them.

According to the investigation, the contact began at the end of 2025, when an Iranian handler allegedly reached out to the suspect through a social network. The suspect is accused of agreeing to perform different missions in exchange for payments.

With the investigation now completed and an evidentiary basis established, a prosecutor’s declaration was filed against him. A serious indictment is expected to be submitted in the coming days on suspicion of conspiracy with a foreign agent.

Police and the Shin Bet described the case as a complex security affair uncovered through a prolonged covert investigation.

“This was a complex security case exposed through joint activity by the Ayalon unit of the Tel Aviv District police and the Shin Bet,” authorities said. “The investigation revealed a sophisticated method of recruiting an Israeli citizen by a foreign element.”

Security officials again warned Israeli citizens and residents against maintaining contact with foreign hostile actors or carrying out tasks on their behalf.

“These actions constitute serious criminal offenses and endanger state security,” police and the Shin Bet said.

They added that Israeli security forces will continue working together to identify, prevent and prosecute anyone who chooses to cooperate with hostile elements.
