Tragedy in Ramot
Victim of Jerusalem Bus Ramming Incident Identified as 14-Year-Old Yeshiva Student Yosef Eisental
The 14 year old victim of the Jerusalem bus collision has been identified as Yosef Eisental, a dedicated yeshiva student who was dragged for nearly half a kilometer during a chaotic night of civil unrest.

The identity of the young victim who lost his life during Tuesday night’s violent demonstrations in Jerusalem has been confirmed as 14 year old Yosef Eisental. A resident of the Ramot neighborhood and a student at the Ohel Torah Yeshiva, Yosef was caught in a deadly sequence of events that has left his community in deep mourning and sparked a fierce debate over the actions of the bus driver involved. While the police have maintained that the incident was not a nationalistic terror attack, several eyewitnesses at the scene remain convinced that the driver’s decision to accelerate into the crowd was a deliberate and lethal act.
New details from the police investigation reveal that the driver of the Line 64 bus actually placed a call to the 100 emergency hotline moments before the fatal collision. During the call, the driver reportedly stated that he was being physically attacked by protesters and expressed that he felt his life was in immediate danger. According to his version of events, the acceleration was a desperate maneuver to escape a mob that was hitting his windshield and damaging his wipers. However, those on the ground describe a far more aggressive scene. Eyewitness Yaakov Zimberg stated that after the driver was blocked and his vehicle was struck, he decided "out of nowhere to press full gas," sending dozens of young men flying in all directions.
The tragedy reached its most gruesome point when Yosef Eisental became trapped beneath the heavy vehicle. Footage from the scene reportedly shows another protester hanging onto the side of the bus and falling off as the driver continued to speed away for approximately 500 meters. By the time the bus came to a halt on Ohel Yehoshua Street, Yosef was pinned beneath the engine. Rescue teams from the fire department were called to lift the vehicle, but the medical staff, including volunteer doctor Aryeh Jaffe, found that the teenager had already passed away from extreme trauma. "We had to lie under the engine, and we saw that he was without a pulse or breath," Jaffe reported, noting the devastating nature of the injuries.
The management of the Extra transportation company and its CEO have been summoned for an emergency hearing with the Ministry of Transportation to address the safety protocols and the driver's conduct during the riot. In the Ramot neighborhood, friends and teachers of Yosef Eisental describe him as a bright and gentle student whose life was cut short in a moment of urban war. As the funeral arrangements are made, the police are reviewing all available security and cellular footage to determine if the driver’s claim of being "threatened" justifies the high speed escape that resulted in a child being dragged to his death through the streets of the capital.
