The Galilee city of Nahariya is in mourning tonight following the identification of Uri Peretz as the civilian killed during a lethal Hezbollah rocket barrage earlier today. Peretz, a 43-year-old husband and father of three, was well known in the community as the owner of a local cafe. He was caught in a direct hit when at least ten rockets were launched from Lebanon toward the Western Galilee, resulting in three separate impact sites within the city. The fatal strike occurred in a parking lot, where Peretz and another man were found with critical injuries as nearby vehicles erupted into flames.

Tragedy in the Parking Lot

The attack took place around 4:00 PM on Thursday, catching residents during a busy afternoon. Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics arrived at the scene to find a chaotic environment filled with smoke, shattered glass, and destruction. Paramedic Omri Gorga described the scene, noting that despite arriving within minutes and performing intensive resuscitation efforts, they were forced to pronounce Peretz dead at the site. A second man, aged approximately 30, remains in critical to near fatal condition, while another individual suffered moderate injuries and a woman was treated for light wounds at a different impact location.

The death of Uri Peretz leaves a void in the city, where he was a familiar face to many who frequented his establishment. He leaves behind his wife, Hagar, and their three children. Following the initial barrage, sirens continued to echo across the North for hours, and shortly after the strike in Nahariya, three more people were lightly injured by a drone strike in another border community. The persistent fire has turned daily life in the Galilee into a series of races for shelter, with local officials emphasizing that despite the high success rate of defense systems, the sheer volume of fire remains a deadly threat to those who cannot reach safety in time.
