Race Against the Clock

In a dramatic race against the clock, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reportedly ordered the Israel Defense Forces to accelerate and intensify airstrikes across Iran, setting a strict 48-hour deadline to complete critical objectives. According to reports from the New York Times, the Israeli leadership is deeply concerned that President Donald Trump may announce a ceasefire or a formal move toward peace talks as early as this Saturday. To prevent the war from ending before Israel’s primary security goals are met, the military has been instructed to focus all remaining firepower on the Iranian weapons industry and ballistic missile infrastructure.

The Saturday Deadline

The decision to fast-track the bombing campaign followed a tense and high-stakes meeting held in the "Pit," the IDF’s underground command center at the Kirya in Tel Aviv. During this session, senior commanders, including the Chief of the Air Force and the Head of Military Intelligence, presented a list of high-priority targets that have yet to be neutralized. Netanyahu’s directive is clear: use the remaining window of opportunity to ensure that the Iranian regime’s ability to produce and launch advanced weaponry is permanently crippled. Israeli officials are particularly worried after obtaining a copy of the American 15-point plan, which they believe does not offer sufficient guarantees regarding the total dismantling of Iran’s nuclear and missile programs.

The Israeli government’s working assumption is that Trump is eager to announce a diplomatic breakthrough to stabilize global markets and conclude the war, even if the final details of a deal are not yet settled. By setting a Friday deadline, Netanyahu hopes to create a "new reality on the ground" that cannot be reversed by diplomacy. The primary objectives remain the removal of the ballistic missile threat, ensuring the regime cannot develop nuclear weapons, and creating the necessary pressure for the Iranian people to rise against their leadership. If the "brake" is applied by Washington this weekend, Israel intends to have already secured its most vital strategic achievements, ensuring the regime is left as weak as possible before any negotiations begin.
