The domestic political theater inside Jerusalem transformed into an active rhetorical war zone on Monday evening, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu breaking a multi-month media blackout to deliver a fierce, unscripted press conference at 21:00. The emergency broadcast, marking his first direct interaction with working journalists since March, was organized to directly confront the geopolitical fallout of the newly announced peace framework between Washington and Tehran. Facing intense domestic scrutiny over his apparent failure to block the American diplomatic track, the premier utilized the platform to mount a sweeping defense of his sovereign military record while projecting total political defiance.

Addressing the national population with stark, uncompromising terminology, the prime minister asserted that the recent massive air campaigns against the Iranian homeland had single-handedly averted a catastrophic regional apocalypse. Netanyahu directly addressed the domestic skepticism regarding his recent strategy, telling reporters that people are asking what we achieved, we distanced ourselves from immediate destruction. The premier delivered his most ominous assessment of the state of the war by telling the public that if we had not acted, Iran would have atomic bombs, the citizens of Israel would be in dreadful peril of mass death, all of us were in this danger.

The dramatic public address provided a window into the deep administrative friction currently defining relations between the current government and the incoming Trump administration, following unauthorized Israeli air strikes within Beirut. Netanyahu openly acknowledged the evolving friction with his longtime political ally in Washington, clarifying that Trump and I have known each other for many years, many times we see things eye to eye, and sometimes we do not. The premier emphasized that he bears sole responsibility for the sovereign security margins of the state, noting that one must stand firm on the security interests of Israel wisely, and that this requires a lot of wisdom and experience.

The prime minister utilized the questioning session to aggressively alter the historical benchmarks of the recent Operation Lion's Roar, pushing back against accusations that the massive military campaign failed to achieve its primary objective. When asked directly whether he blundered by failing to topple the clerical regime in Tehran, Netanyahu retorted sharply by asking who said I made a mistake, I did not say that one of the goals of the operation is to collapse the Iranian regime. The Prime Minister's Office later issued a clarification stating that the administration had only aimed to shatter defensive infrastructure while encouraging the domestic Iranian population to revolt against their oppressors.

The defensive narrative extended directly to the current physical presence of forward deployed combat units along multiple international borders, with Netanyahu promising an indefinite military occupation of captured Arab territories. The premier explicitly declared that the Israel Defense Forces will remain in the security buffer zone for as long as required, drawing a direct line to ongoing operations against terrorists in the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and Syria. He boasted that his cabinet had successfully neutralized prominent terrorist leaders, including Mohammed Deif, Ismail Haniyeh, and Yahya Sinwar, while successfully retrieving national hostages through unyielding military pressure.

The combative performance immediately triggered a harsh, public counter strike from opposition figures, who accused the prime minister of rewriting history to preserve his hold on executive power. Former Chief of Staff and leader of the Yeshar party Gadi Eisenkot launched a scathing review on social media, labeling the broadcast a very regrettable statement by a prime minister in Israel, especially in light of the failure to achieve the goals of the war after almost three years. Eisenkot concluded that the population had just witnessed another complete illusion designed to hide a total lack of answers for a nation surviving the most difficult years in its history.
