Lasers, loss, and unanswered alarms

Blinding Green Lasers: Missed Signs Before Sniper Murdered Pregnant Woman

Thirty minutes before Tze’ela Gaz was killed, drivers reported seeing green lasers on the roads, which often precedes terror attacks. So why was nothing done?

Minutes before a deadly shooting attack near Bruchin Junction in Samaria on Wednesday, drivers reported green laser beams blinding them on the road, a known precursor to terrorist activity. Despite these warnings, no immediate action was taken, according to a report by Yinon Shalom Yitach on i24news.

The attack claimed the life of Tze’ela Gez, a pregnant woman en route to the hospital, and left her infant, delivered via emergency surgery, in critical but stable condition. Her husband sustained light injuries. The terrorist fired from a passing vehicle, targeting Israeli cars, before fleeing. Security forces launched a manhunt, deploying air and ground units, and have cordoned off the nearby village of Bruchin, but the terrorist is still at large.

Security officials note that green laser blinding is a recurring tactic in the Ariel area, often followed by shootings or stone-throwing, as seen in a similar March attack.

The absence of shell casings at the scene suggests a skilled perpetrator (sniper), possibly linked to prior attacks. IDF forces, led by the Ephraim Brigade, continue searches for the suspect’s vehicle, while senior commanders assess the situation on-site.
