Rav Eli Sadan said he hopes Ofer Winter clears the electoral threshold, arguing that only then will Netanyahu have a right-wing government.
Rav Eli Sadan shlita, the rabbi of Ofer Winter, has publicly sided with his former student. Sadan said he hopes Winter's party crosses the electoral threshold, Amit Segal reported.
"I hope Ofer Winter passes the electoral threshold. Only if he does will Bibi have a right-wing government," Rav Sadan said.
Rav Sadan is the founder of the Bnei David academy in Eli, a community in the Binyamin region.
He made the statement after a personal visit from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
On October 25, Netanyahu released a video message accusing Winter and Avigdor Liberman of coordinating behind the scenes to block a right-wing government under his leadership. He claimed the two men intended to force on Israel a government with Liberman as prime minister and Winter as defense minister. In the same video, Netanyahu noted that Winter had said several days earlier that he made a mistake when he recommended Netanyahu for prime minister.
