Publication Permitted: Lt. Col. Yitzhak Ben-Bashat Killed in Battle in Shuja'iya

Yitzhak Ben-Bashat, 44 years old, former commander of the Yiftach Brigade in the reserves, served as the commander of the Golani Brigade. This is the fifth colonel to fall in combat since Shabbat Simchat Torah (October 7th). Southern Brigade Col. Assaf Hamami HY"D (his body is in the hands of Hamas), Col. Leon Bar (Res.) HY"D, of the Judea and Samaria Division, Commander of the Multidimensional Unit Col. Roi Levy, and the Nahal Brigade Commander Col. Yonatan Steinberg HY"D were killed in battles in the Gaza Envelope on Shabbat Simchat Torah.

He was born in the settlement of Neve Tzuf, the son of Edna and Rafi, the former deputy head of the Binyamin Regional Council. Today he is a resident of the Moshav Sde Yaakov in the Jezreel Valley. He left behind a wife and four children.

The funeral will take place today (Wednesday) at 15:00 at the cemetery in Kfar Tavor.
