Prime Minister Netanyahu has just fired Defense Minister Yoav Gallant over differences of opinion over the conduct of the war. Israel Katz will replace him as Defense Minister.
In his official statement on the matter, Netanyahu said that full confidence is required between the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister, but that "significant gaps" emerged between the two, expressed in statements and actions "contrary to the decisions of the government and the decisions of the government."
He then noted that "they reached the knowledge of the public in an unacceptable manner, and worse, they reached the knowledge of the enemy - our enemies enjoyed this and drew a lot of benefit from this."
Netanyahu said that "this crisis does not allow the continued proper continuation of the conduct of the war. I'm not the only one who says this - most members of the government and most members of the government, all share the feeling that we cannot continue like this."
