MDA team performed CPR on woman at the scene, but she was later pronounced dead at Ichilov Hospital; terrorist shot by security guards and arrested in serious condition. Police commissioner en route; no other casualties reported.
Ludmilla Lipovski, 83, was murdered this morning (Friday) in a stabbing attack on Holocaust Martyrs Street in Herzliya. MDA said she was found unconscious. The security guards of the courier unit of the post office neutralized the terrorist, and his condition is described as serious.
The woman and the terrorist were evacuated to Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv, where doctors were forced to pronounce the victim dead.
MDA paramedic Idan Sheena said: "We received a report of a woman who had been stabbed, we quickly arrived at the scene and saw the woman lying unconscious and suffering from a stab wound to her body. We gave her initial medical treatment, which included stopping the bleeding and medication while evacuating her to the hospital in critical condition."
MDA spokesperson Zaki Heller reported: "We are fighting for the life of the woman who was stabbed, there are no additional casualties."
The attacker was reportedly neutralized by a civilian, who shot and injured the assailant.
Large numbers of police have arrived at the scene to investigate the incident and secure the area.
