Unheeded warning
Terrorists waved "Mazal Tov" to female lookout— before October 7
Hamas knew the Roni Eshel's birthday before launching the massacre.

Eyal Eshel, the father of Roni who was killed during the Hamas attack on the Nahal Oz base on Oct. 7, told Ynet in an interview Monday morning about an incident that took place two weeks before the massacre, which was ignored despite warnings from the lookouts.
According to him, before the attack on the border communities, Hamas terrorists waved a sign on the other side of the fence with the inscription "Mazal Tov" to one of the female lookouts who served at the base, which led the female lookouts to report the incident to their commanders, but according to Eshel, nothing was done.
"It's one of many stories we've come to know, and it's one of the most shocking stories we've heard," he said.
He added, "Hamas terrorists stood on the other side of the fence with a poster. We were shocked. They knew about the birthday, they knew the phone numbers of officers and the license plates of IDF vehicles."
"They knew a lot of things. When the Gazans walk around and are on the other side of the fence, living the routine life of IDF soldiers, nothing here remains a secret."
He added, "It illustrates that Hamas knew everything. They also knew what Nahal Oz looked like from the inside. Today they talk about censorship, they talk about a ban on publishing the names of IDF officers, but that's completely nonsense. The terrorists knew what Nahal Oz looked like from the inside, and it's no longer a secret. They had no problem getting such information."
