Omer Shem Tov donning tefillin in emotional first Instagram post after release

Omer Shem Tov, released last Saturday from 505 days of Hamas captivity, shared his first Instagram post since his release.

In his first public appearance since being freed, Shem Tov donned tefillin and reflected on the strength he drew from the prayers of the Jewish people during his time in captivity. "Am Yisrael—there is no one like us!" he wrote, expressing gratitude for the unwavering support he felt from his community.

His post began by saying: "Creator of the world, thank you for being with me at every moment."

He then went on to pay hommage to Uri Danino, who tried to save people fleeing the Nova party. "Amidst the chaos, he appeared like an angel, without hesitation. Uri, because of you I am here. I can't find the words to thank you. may your memory be a blessing."

Omer then went on to thank our brave soldiers who fought and died so bravely to return the hostages.

"Am Yisrael - there is and will never be a nation such as us!" Omer exclaimed. "I felt your prayers and even in the darkness there was light".

He finished his post by saying: "And now I am here, to make the voices who are still there heard; they must be returned, those living to rehabilitation and those dead to a proper burial. I love each and every one of you! Am Yisrael Chai!"
