A disturbing incident at Tzur Yigal Elementary School has sparked outrage after fifth-grade students were inadvertently shown raw footage from the October 7 Hamas attacks. The teacher, who reportedly left the classroom during the screening, has been fired following the incident.

According to a Thursday report by Kan News, students were exposed to graphic scenes including victims crying for help and extremely disturbing imagery including footage of severed limbs. One parent described her child as experiencing "severe trauma" from the exposure, with several students reported to be in shock.

The Education Ministry condemned the incident in a statement: "This serious event occurred during an enrichment program led by an external instructor not employed by the Ministry. Upon discovery, her employment was immediately terminated."

School officials responded swiftly, notifying parents and mobilizing a crisis response team including the school psychologist and counselor. "Professional-led discussion groups are being held today, and the school supervisor will closely monitor the situation," the Ministry added.

The incident is particularly sensitive given the ongoing trauma many Israeli children are experiencing in the aftermath of the October 7 attacks. Mental health professionals have been brought in to help students process their exposure to the disturbing content.
