As the new year approaches, Heymanot Kasao's family is reaching out to the people of Israel with a blessing and a plea: pray for her return. Day 929 since her abduction, according to the count kept by the campaign to bring her home, marks the family's third Rosh Hashanah without Heymanot.
The Kasao family will enter the year 5787 as the only family still living in the Tzfat absorption center, the campaign headquarters announced. They refuse to leave until their daughter comes home.
Heymanot's father, Tesfaye Kasao, expressed gratitude to those who have stood with them. "To everyone who has been part of our journey these past two and a half years, the brothers and sisters who help in every way, who help with their thoughts, who help with financial support, who help with prayer, we thank you and wish you a good and blessed year," he said.
Tesfaye also noted the convergence of Rosh Hashanah with the Ethiopian holiday of Enkutatash, describing the overlap as joyful and symbolic. His blessing to the nation came with a personal request: "We ask all the people of Israel to direct their prayers so that our Heymanot will come out from wherever she is and join her family, join us."
