Travel on intercity bus lines and Israel Railways will be free for all passengers on Election Day, Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the Central Elections Committee announced Thursday.
The free service will begin at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 26, and continue until public transportation stops running on Election Day. It applies to intercity bus routes longer than 15 kilometers and to all Israel Railways trains.
The list of intercity bus routes included in the arrangement is available from the Transportation Ministry's information center at *8787. Passengers on those routes can board without a ticket or identification, after checking that their line appears on the list.
Train passengers will need a dedicated travel ticket, available at station service counters and ticket machines.
Free travel to and from Eilat requires advance booking through Egged's information centers at *2800.
