Netanel Shukrun, may Hashem avenge his blood

Authorities have cleared for publication that Netanel Shukrun, 30, from Eli Zahav is the victim murdered in the shooting attack carried out near Neve Tzuf in Binyamin.

Shukrun was shot while at Ein Re'aya spring and sustained critical injuries. He was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Netanel, a father of six children, arrived at the spring this morning with his eldest son to immerse ahead of Yom Kippur. He is survived by his wife Merav and six children, the youngest who is just four years old. He worked as an information systems analyst at Hachshara Insurance Company. His wife, Dr. Merav Shukrun, is a lecturer at Ariel University.

Following the attack, IDF forces and police launched a manhunt for the armed terrorist, who fled the scene on foot. As part of the operation, roadblocks were set up throughout the sector, with forces conducting ground searches aided by drones, and Air Force assets were scrambled. Simultaneously, a police helicopter from the aerial unit and drones from the Rakiya unit assisted IDF forces in efforts to locate the terrorist, who was captured after approximately three hours.

Samaria Regional Council head Yossi Dagan said from the family's home: "We are in a very difficult event together with all of Israel. We are in pain, embracing and hugging. Netanel was a man of kindness, a humble and people-loving person, a devoted family man and part of a veteran founding family in Eli Zahav. He was murdered after finishing immersing with his son ahead of Yom Kippur. Our hearts are broken. We embrace Merav and the six children and will stand by their side. These barbarians will never break us.

"From here I say to the nation and the world: you will never break the settlement enterprise in Samaria, you will not break the people of Israel and the State of Israel. We will build the Land of Israel even more. I strengthen and embrace the IDF soldiers, Border Police fighters, Israel Police officers, Shin Bet personnel and all security forces in their war against terror.

"I expect the Government of Israel and the senior command to move from defense to offense, to launch an operation throughout the entire area, to go house by house, to collect weapons and restore the security checkpoints. On the eve of Yom Kippur we are in pain, but we are not broken. A thousand abominable terrorists like these will not defeat us."

The Eli Zahav community stated: "The Eli Zahav community bows its head and mourns the murder of our beloved friend Netanel Shukrun, may Hashem avenge his blood. Netanel was a man of kindness, humble, modest and beloved, a devoted husband to Merav and a devoted father to his six children. The Shukrun family is a veteran founding family in the community, an integral part of Eli Zahav. We all embrace Merav and the children and will stand by their side in this difficult hour and in whatever is needed. May his memory be blessed."
