The fire in the north

A woman in her 60s was killed this morning (Sunday) in a fire that broke out in a two-story private home in Kfar Masada in the northern Golan.

When crews arrived at the scene, firefighters identified smoke billowing from inside the building, along with a report that someone was trapped inside. The firefighters began rapid searches to locate victims, and during the operation they found the woman unconscious.

The teams pulled the woman out of the building and began basic resuscitation efforts until MDA crews arrived at the scene. They then transferred her to the medical personnel, who were forced to pronounce her dead.

Alongside the rescue operations, crews worked to extinguish the source of the fire, clear the smoke and prevent the flames from spreading to adjacent areas. Firefighters gained full control of the incident.

The Northern District Commander of Fire and Rescue Services ordered the establishment of a special team which will investigate how the fire broke out.

Deputy Golan-Galilee District Commander, Deputy Fire Officer Eli Mor said: "The team rushed to the scene following a notification about a fire and concern for someone trapped in a house in the village. The team entered the building, which was enveloped in heavy smoke, and extracted a woman in critical condition. The firefighters performed resuscitation efforts on her until the arrival of medical personnel. I once again emphasize the critical importance of installing smoke detectors in homes that will alert to the fire at its outset and save lives."
