IDF forces in the Binyamin region

Large IDF and Judea and Samaria District Police forces launched a manhunt Thursday evening for a Palestinian driver who fled the scene of a ramming incident near the settlement of Ateret in the Binyamin region. One person was lightly injured and received initial medical treatment at the scene.

Journalist Doron Kadosh reports that a preliminary IDF probe is clarifying the circumstances of the incident.

According to initial findings, youths who arrived from a nearby outpost disrupted Palestinian vehicle traffic on the road and attempted to block their passage. The Palestinian driver, apparently trying to escape the blockade, struck one of the youths during his flight and injured him lightly. Security forces are continuing to clarify details of the incident in the field.

According to initial reports from the scene, the driver carried out a ramming and fled. Security forces who arrived quickly opened a wide-scale pursuit and set up roadblocks across the area in an effort to capture the fleeing suspect.

The incident is the latest in a series of attacks and attempted attacks in the Binyamin region in recent months. Just two weeks ago, a deadly shooting attack occurred at the Ein Ria spring near Neve Tzuf, in which Netanel Shekaron z"l, a father of six from the settlement of Eli Zahav, was murdered.

IDF and police forces are continuing wide-scale searches across the Binyamin region to locate the driver who fled the ramming scene this evening. Forces are deployed at numerous points and have set up checkpoints at major junctions in the area.

Recent incidents underscore the ongoing security tension in Judea and Samaria and the need for constant vigilance by security forces and residents. In September alone, the IDF and Shin Bet eliminated 70 Hamas terrorists, including three senior commanders.
