Arkia Airlines said Wednesday that it has stopped selling tickets for flights to Marrakesh, Morocco, until further notice, following a demand from Israeli security authorities.
The airline said it is in contact with the relevant authorities and security officials, and will update passengers on any developments. It did not say what prompted the security demand.
If authorities decide to bar Israeli carriers from flying to Marrakesh altogether, Arkia said it is exploring ways to keep the route running, including operating the flights through its commercial partners.
Marrakesh has become a popular destination for Israeli tourists in recent years. The number of Israelis visiting Morocco has jumped from about 7,000 to roughly 100,000 a year.
