The Central Elections Committee released its first update Tuesday on turnout for the 26th Knesset elections: by 12:00 p.m., 31.5% of eligible voters had cast ballots.

That marks the highest midday turnout since 1973, when 33.1% had voted by this hour in the elections for the 8th Knesset.

It also represents a sharp rise from recent elections. In the last round, turnout at this stage stood at just 28.4%. In the 2021 elections, five hours after polls opened, only 25.4% had voted.

The IDF reported separately that 48% of soldiers had voted by 1:00 p.m., up from 44.4% at the same hour in the previous election.

By locality, the highest turnout was recorded in Atauna (64.1%), Avigayil (49.5%), Qatzar a-Sir (47.9%), Kevuah (47.8%), and Nirit (47.6%). In Tel Aviv, turnout by noon stood at 28.8%; in Be'er Sheva, 24.4%; in Haifa, 27.3%; and in Yerushalayim, 27.1%.
