The accident scene

A construction worker was killed Wednesday after being trapped under a crane that collapsed from a truck during work on Menachem Begin Road in Ramat Gan. The worker was extracted in critical condition and evacuated to hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.

According to initial reports, the crane collapsed during work in the area, trapping the worker beneath it. Rescue forces, firefighters and Magen David Adom teams were called to the scene, extracted the injured man and evacuated him to hospital in critical condition. Medical teams attempted to save his life but were forced to pronounce his death.

Police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the incident, including the possibility of a technical malfunction, violation of safety protocols or maintenance failure. The road in the area was temporarily closed to traffic, and security forces operated at the scene.

Workplace accidents of this type continue to raise concern in Israel's construction sector. In recent weeks, several serious incidents have been recorded: a worker aged around 30 fell to his death from scaffolding at a height of three stories in Beit Shemesh, and in another case a building on Nachalat Binyamin Street in Tel Aviv partially collapsed during Tama 38 renovation work.

Authorities are expected to examine whether there were safety deficiencies at the Ramat Gan site.
