Opposition leader Yair Lapid addressed two political developments Wednesday morning: the Republican Party's sharp losses in the US midterm elections and the Likud party's challenge to Israel's election results, despite denials by Judge Yitzchak Solberg, chairman of the Central Elections Committee.
"Zini's statements last night and the election results in America this morning have one unexpected outcome: they eliminate any possibility of a unity government led by Netanyahu," Lapid said.
"Israel cannot afford for him to remain prime minister. It endangers security, it endangers democracy, it will crush us in the world."
Tuesday night, leaders of the change bloc met and concluded that the Knesset speaker must be replaced as soon as possible. However, they are still far from being able to form a government.
