Ramat Hanadiv, the estate in the southern Carmel between Zichron Yaakov and Binyamina, has been named to the 2026 list of the world's 100 best parks by Worth a Journey, a German travel guide.
The estate is one of two Israeli sites on the list, alongside Tel Aviv's Yarkon Park. The ranking includes parks from across the globe, historic gardens, urban parks and nature reserves.
The list was published as part of an international initiative to identify leading tourism and leisure sites across categories including museums, natural sites and restaurants. According to the guide, the rankings were compiled after reviewing more than a million sites worldwide, analyzing millions of visitor data points and reviews, alongside physical site visits to verify and refine the results.
Ramat Hanadiv spans approximately 4,500 dunams in the southern Carmel. The Memorial Gardens were dedicated in 1954, when the remains of Baron Edmond de Rothschild and his wife Adelaide were brought for burial in Israel. Over the decades, Ramat Hanadiv has evolved from a memorial site into a space combining nature conservation, ecological research and environmental education.
Long-term research
The site hosts long-term studies on biodiversity and open-space management, with findings used to develop conservation methods. Ramat Hanadiv operates with the support of Yad Hanadiv, which continues the Rothschild family's philanthropic legacy in Israel.
Chali Yaakobs, CEO of Ramat Hanadiv: "The selection of Ramat Hanadiv as one of the 100 best parks in the world is a source of Israeli pride and great excitement for all of us.
Direct encounter between man and nature
Since the Memorial Gardens opened to the public more than 70 years ago, Ramat Hanadiv has developed into a unique space combining historical heritage, nature conservation and environmental research, enabling a direct encounter between man and nature. It is especially gratifying to see Ramat Hanadiv standing alongside some of the world's most renowned parks, and to see the site's decades of work receiving recognition on the international stage as well. We thank the Worth a Journey travel guide for this selection and for the honor it has bestowed on Ramat Hanadiv."
