Yair Netanyahu Miami Threat: Security Officials Dispute Claims

Israeli security officials are clarifying that intelligence received regarding a potential threat to Yair Netanyahu, the prime minister's son, while he was staying near Miami was general in nature and did not point to any specific, imminent incident, according to a report by Nir Dvori.

According to these sources, the intelligence concerned a broad intention to harm senior Israeli figures, rather than a specific plot that was about to be carried out. As a precautionary measure and to avoid taking unnecessary risks, officials decided to strengthen the security detail around the younger Netanyahu and requested that he return to Israel. However, security establishment sources reject reports of any dramatic incident at the location or the immediate thwarting of an attack.

Security officials stated that "we are not aware of any last-minute thwarting that was about to be executed," clarifying that no incident occurred in which a terror cell was stopped or an assassination attempt against Yair Netanyahu in Miami was prevented. The comments came in response to a report published by the American network Newsmax, which claimed that Iranian agents were present in the Hallandale Beach area gathering intelligence on Netanyahu's movements and residence.

According to the American report, Israeli intelligence identified the serious threat in December and alerted local authorities, leading Netanyahu to leave his personal belongings behind and fly directly to Israel. The American media reports followed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's own disclosure that Iran had attempted to assassinate one of his sons.

In a parallel development, new details have emerged regarding the alleged assassination attempt on Yair Netanyahu in Miami. In a formal complaint letter sent by the prime minister's son to Israel's police commissioner, the head of the Shin Bet security service, and the attorney general, he claims that a terror cell operating on behalf of Iranian intelligence reached the entrance of the house where he was staying.

The letter was sent as part of Netanyahu's demand to open a criminal and security investigation against Haaretz journalist Uri Misgav.

Netanyahu alleges that Misgav published online details about his Miami residence, the security arrangements around him, and his movement patterns, and that this information reached hostile elements and assisted them. "Following those publications, and relying on them directly, terrorists dispatched by Iranian intelligence physically arrived at the entrance of the house at the address in question in Miami, and carried out a sudden and targeted assassination attempt against Yair Netanyahu," the letter claims.

According to the letter, Shin Bet security guards accompanying Netanyahu were forced to confront an Iranian terror cell, and thanks to their resourcefulness, a targeted assassination attempt was prevented.

Netanyahu's attorney, Uriel Nizri, is demanding that an investigation be opened against Misgav and that he even be arrested, arguing that the publications provided the enemy with a "roadmap" and endangered Netanyahu and his security guards.
