Minister Ze’ev Elkin, once one of Benjamin Netanyahu’s closest confidants who later became one of his most biting critics from the right, announced a dramatic shift in his stance toward the Prime Minister this morning.

Speaking with remarkable candor during an interview on Radio Kol Barama, Elkin addressed Netanyahu’s management of the current war and recent military operations, admitting that his past opposition may have been misplaced.

"I owe Netanyahu an apology," Elkin stated. "My criticism of him at the time was incorrect. In this war, he has demonstrated capabilities that I don't see anyone else being able to achieve."

Elkin’s perspective carries weight due to his deep familiarity with the decision-making processes inside the Prime Minister’s Office. Having served previously as Coalition Chairman and as a senior minister in past Netanyahu governments, Elkin was long considered the "architect" of Netanyahu’s political strategy before their high-profile falling out years ago.

Reflecting on the events of the past several months, Elkin suggested that Netanyahu’s wartime conduct has fundamentally altered his legacy.

"He has entered the history of the State of Israel," Elkin added, noting that the Prime Minister's recent performance has solidified his historical standing in a way that transcends previous political disputes.

The statement has already sent shockwaves through the political establishment, as Elkin had been a foundational member of the bloc of right-wing politicians who vowed never to sit in a government led by Netanyahu.
