Dan Bongino Calls Rep. Thomas Massie 'Epic-Level Fraud'

In a fiery segment on his show, former FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino unleashed strong criticism of Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), claiming he witnessed a “very different side” of the congressman during his time at the Bureau.

“I could not believe what a fraud this guy was,” Bongino said. “He is an epic-level fraud, whatever you think about this guy, I’m telling you, he is an absolute fraud.”

Bongino detailed multiple attempts to arrange in-person briefings for Massie on sensitive cases the congressman had publicly discussed and criticized on X (formerly Twitter). According to Bongino, Massie repeatedly declined or postponed the offers.

“I tried multiple times to get this guy to come over for a briefing on a case he kept bloviating about on Twitter and he didn’t do it,” Bongino added.

The remarks come amid a long-running public clash between Bongino (who served as FBI Deputy Director under Director Kash Patel until early 2026) and Massie. Their tensions escalated over issues including:

The January 6 pipe bomb investigation
Handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files
Allegations of whistleblower retaliation

Massie has pushed aggressively for greater transparency on the Epstein files and has accused elements within the FBI of political targeting. Bongino has defended the Bureau’s actions during his tenure and accused Massie of grandstanding for clout instead of engaging privately.

Rep. Thomas Massie has not yet issued a direct response to today’s comments, though he has previously shared screenshots of communications with Bongino to counter similar accusations.

This exchange comes on the same day as Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District Republican primary, where Massie faces a well-funded challenge from Trump-endorsed Ed Gallrein. The race has drawn national attention due to heavy spending by pro-Israel groups and other outside interests targeting Massie’s independent voting record.

Results from today’s primary are expected this evening.
