Erdogan's Terrible Dilemma
President Erdoğan calls for an immediate end to the war in Iran after NATO systems intercept an Iranian missile over Turkish soil.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan issued a high-stakes appeal for an immediate ceasefire in Iran today, warning that the conflict is on the verge of a catastrophic regional escalation. Speaking before the Turkish Parliament in Ankara, Erdoğan emphasized that only a diplomatic solution can prevent the Middle East from being "consumed by fire."
"This war must stop before it escalates and causes the entire region to go up in flames," Erdoğan stated. "The solution is diplomacy. We are continuing our efforts to return the parties to the negotiating table. If we give diplomacy a chance, this can certainly be achieved."
Erdoğan’s urgent plea follows a series of dangerous incidents involving Turkish airspace. For the second time since the start of the war, the Turkish Ministry of Defense reported that an Iranian missile entered Turkish territory. The projectile was successfully intercepted by NATO-operated defense systems.
These incursions come as Turkey signals a shift toward joining regional defensive efforts. The repeated violations of Turkish sovereignty by Iranian launches have reportedly placed immense pressure on the leadership in Ankara to move beyond neutrality.
