Sen. Fetterman: Israel Should Kill New Ayatollah, All Iranian Leaders

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) called on Israel to assassinate Iran’s newly appointed supreme leader and other members of the country’s leadership, arguing the world would be better off without them.
Speaking in a television interview, Fetterman said Israel should target Mojtaba Khamenei, who recently became Iran’s supreme leader following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the opening days of the U.S.–Israeli military campaign.
“They should kill him, too,” Fetterman said, adding that the world is “100% better” with the elder Khamenei dead.
The senator also called for Israel to eliminate what he described as the remaining leadership of the Iranian regime.
“If he does recover, I absolutely support having Israel eliminate him along with every last member of their leadership,” Fetterman said.
Mojtaba Khamenei has not appeared publicly since the Assembly of Experts appointed him as Iran’s new supreme leader. Iranian officials have said he was injured during the initial wave of U.S. and Israeli strikes on February 28.
His absence from public events, including a rally in Tehran marking his appointment, has fueled speculation about his health and whereabouts.
Under Iran’s political system, the supreme leader holds ultimate authority over the country’s government and serves as commander-in-chief of the armed forces and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Fetterman also argued that Iran had been given an opportunity to avoid the current conflict through negotiations.
President Donald Trump had previously offered Tehran a chance to reach an agreement before military action began, the senator said, but Iranian leaders rejected those proposals.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said the war could end if Iran’s rights were recognized and guarantees were given against future attacks.
Trump has also criticized Mojtba Khamenei’s selection as supreme leader, previously calling him a “lightweight” and suggesting he would struggle to remain in power.
