Hezbollah Publishes Fake Night-Vision Drone Footage Showing IDF Soldiers

Hezbollah's Lebanese television channel Al-Manar published footage overnight (Monday) that it claimed was filmed by a night-vision camera mounted on an explosive drone, showing IDF soldiers operating in southern Lebanon.
The footage, which appeared on the surface to document a new and concerning capability of the terrorist organization, was found upon investigation to be fabricated, the images were taken from footage of wildfires that broke out in Colorado in 2021.
IDF sources told Kan News that "no evidence has been found so far that Hezbollah has succeeded in mounting night-vision cameras on explosive drones." However, the organization does operate an array of thermal cameras for intelligence gathering, as well as commercial drones equipped with night-vision capabilities.
The assessment is that installing thermal cameras on explosive drones is only a matter of time, but at this stage it remains a capability that has not yet been deployed in the field.
