U.S. President Donald Trump clarified the terms of a new agreement with Iran, declaring that after an initial 60-day ceasefire window expires, only the United States will be permitted to collect transit fees from commercial shipping lanes passing at Strait Of Hormouz.

Trump characterized these future tolls as justified compensation for "historical and ongoing American defense services" in the Middle East. However, his statements directly conflict with reports from the region indicating that the final negotiated text officially recognizes joint Iranian and Oman maritime management, allowing Tehran to monetize safety and navigation services.

A Strategic Defeat

U.S. intelligence sources privately acknowledge the deal represents a massive strategic failure, granting Iran de facto control over the world's most critical oil chokepoint.

While Trump insists Washington will retain exclusive financial control to offset military costs, experts question how the U.S. will enforce this restriction on an emboldened Tehran that now possesses the capability to completely blockade the waterway at Strait Of Hormouz.

The agreement has triggered immediate condemnation worldwide, particularly in Jerusalem, where officials view the deal as a dangerous capitulation to hostile Iranian leverage.

Critics argue the Trump administration succumbed to intense pressure and nuclear brinkmanship, ultimately handing Tehran a potent economic weapon that compromises regional stability and exposes global shipping to long-term extortion.
