Passenger Plane Crash-Lands on Mogadishu Beach
All 50+ passengers and crew are safe after a Starsky Airline plane crash-landed on a Mogadishu beach following engine failure. The domestic flight came to rest in the water near the airport perimeter. Investigations are underway into the emergency landing.

A Starsky Airline (StarSky) passenger plane crash-landed on the beach in Mogadishu today, February 10, 2026, shortly after taking off from Aden Adde International Airport.
The domestic flight was headed to Guri’eel (Guriel) in central Somalia when it suffered mechanical problems, reports point to engine issues or loss of control. The pilot brought the aircraft down on the shoreline of the Indian Ocean right next to the airport. The plane came to rest tilted on the sand, partially in the water, with visible damage to the wings and fuselage.
Dramatic footage shows the aircraft on the beach as passengers and crew evacuated safely.
This could’ve been a total disaster, but it turned into a miracle escape. In a country with a tough aviation record — old planes, tough conditions, and maintenance challenges — walking away from a beach crash like this is rare good news. Investigations are underway to find out exactly what went wrong, but for now, credit to the pilots and crew for getting everyone out alive.
