U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright has announced a dramatic surge in oil shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz under American naval escort, signaling what he describes as the end of Iran's ability to hold global energy markets hostage.
Speaking recently, Wright revealed that the volume of crude oil being transported through a new shipping corridor close to Oman's coastline has risen sharply: "Iran played this card to try to hold the world hostage, hoping everyone would cave to their demands. That's nonsense, it's over," Wright stated.
During the last few weeks, an average of approximately 10 million barrels per day moving through the route, but according to White, since Monday, the U.S. Navy has escorted more than 17 million barrels of crude oil flowing out of the Strait of Hormuz each night, exceeding pre-conflict levels.
Notably, according to earlier statistics, significantly more than 17 million barrels of oil passed through the strait daily before hostilities began.
