Trump Threatens Iran: "We are Locked and Loaded"

Trump’s statement came as protests inside Iran entered a sixth consecutive day, with mounting lethal force used against demonstrators. The language marked one of his most explicit public warnings to Tehran since unrest escalated earlier this week.

US President Donald Trump warned Iran overnight that the United States was “locked and loaded and ready to go” if Iranian authorities continue killing protesters, issuing the threat in a post published early Friday morning.

Trump’s statement came as protests inside Iran entered a sixth consecutive day, with mounting reports of lethal force used against demonstrators. While the White House did not immediately clarify what specific actions Trump was referring to, the language marked one of his most explicit public warnings to Tehran since unrest escalated earlier this week.

At the same time, Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran’s last shah, urged Iranians to persist. In a message posted on X, Pahlavi framed the demonstrations as a historic turning point, calling on protesters to remain united and focused. “You are making history,” he wrote, describing the movement as a collective effort to reclaim the country through courage and solidarity.

Developments on the ground suggest the crackdown is intensifying. Iranian authorities confirmed multiple deaths on Thursday, including two people killed in the city of Lordegan after security forces opened fire on crowds. The Hengaw human rights organization reported that another protester, Dariush Ansari Bakhtiariwand, was shot and killed with live ammunition during demonstrations in Isfahan province on Wednesday night.

Arrests have also accelerated. Reports indicate that an unknown number of protesters have been detained nationwide, with at least seven people taken into custody following a rally in Kermanshah. Activists warn that the true scale of arrests may be significantly higher, given restrictions on media coverage and internet access in several regions.

The unrest follows months of heightened repression. Since the Israel-Iran war in June, Tehran has been accused by rights groups of aggressively silencing dissent, including through executions of individuals accused of collaborating with foreign actors. Human rights organizations say authorities have relied on coerced confessions, torture, and fabricated evidence to justify harsh sentences.

Iranian officials have yet to respond publicly to Trump’s remarks. For now, protesters continue to gather despite the risks, while international attention focuses on whether escalating rhetoric from Washington will translate into concrete action or remain a warning aimed at deterring further bloodshed.
