The White House has confirmed that President Donald Trump is currently engaged in high-level consultations with his national security team regarding a new proposal recently received from Tehran. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the media on Monday, stating that while the administration is not yet issuing a formal stance, the proposal is being treated with serious deliberation. The President spent the morning meeting with his advisors to weigh the implications of the offer, and Leavitt indicated that a formal response from the President is expected to be communicated soon.

Leavitt emphasized that there is no confusion regarding the administration's position, noting that the President’s red lines concerning Iran have been clearly communicated to both the American public and the Iranian leadership. During the briefing, she clarified that the current phase is a preliminary review rather than a formal negotiation process, stating that the President and his team are simply evaluating the content of the submission. The administration remains cautious, aiming to ensure that any potential path forward aligns with the broader security objectives of the United States.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State Marco Rubio has signaled skepticism regarding the regime's motivations, pointing to deep divisions within the Iranian leadership that complicate the prospect of a lasting agreement. Rubio emphasized that the United States will not accept any Iranian attempt to leverage international shipping routes, such as the Strait of Hormuz, as a tool for coercion. He reiterated that these waters are essential international passages that cannot be controlled or taxed by any single nation. As the Trump administration deliberates, the focus remains on ensuring that any diplomatic overture is not used by Tehran as a tactic to delay pressure or bypass the consequences of its actions during the ongoing war.
