The U.S. Navy destroyer USS Frank E. Peterson Jr. (DDG-121) was photographed launching Tomahawk cruise missiles in support of Operation Epic Fury.
The vessel, an Arleigh Burke–class guided missile destroyer, entered service in 2023 and is named after Gen. Frank E. Peterson Jr., the first Black Marine Corps aviator and general officer.
The ship cost roughly $2.2 billion to build and carries a crew of more than 380 personnel. It is equipped with 96 vertical launch system cells for missiles, two triple torpedo tubes and can operate two MH-60R Seahawk helicopters.
