Blessed is the true Judge. The Israeli businessman, Brigadier General (Res.) Yaakov Nimrodi, passed away last night at the age of 97.

As a youth, Nimrodi enlisted in the "Haganah" and was active in intelligence gathering, surveillance, and arms and property acquisitions. He underwent officer training in the Palmach and served as an intelligence officer in the Shachar unit – "HaMista'arvim."

Nimrodi served in the Mossad and managed the organization's branch in Iran until 1959. In 1960, with the tightening of Iran-Israel relations, Nimrodi was appointed to the first IDF attaché in Tehran.

In 1964, he was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General. After not advancing, he retired from the IDF in 1970 and became a successful businessman, focusing on exporting products from Israeli industries to Iran.

Nimrodi is survived by his wife, Rivka, and three children – Ofer, Yael, and Smadar. His daughter, Ruthie Weissberg, was killed when her vehicle struck a landmine during a trip in the Sinai.
