‘The View’ host Sunny Hostin says democrats must be Willing to ‘fight & die’ to defeat Trump

Sunny Hostin, co-host of The View, made a shocking and impassioned statement on Friday, claiming that Democrats must be prepared to “fight and die” to defeat President Donald Trump. Hostin's remarks came in response to the recent actions of Democrat Rep. Al Green of Texas, who was removed from the House floor and later censured after disrupting President Trump's joint address to Congress earlier this week.

"They should be ashamed of themselves," Hostin said of the Democratic lawmakers who did not join Green in protest. "They all should have walked out with him."

According to Hostin, many Democratic leaders are failing to properly oppose Trump, suggesting they lack the necessary resolve to stand up for their beliefs.

"They don’t know how to fight and be part of an opposition party. Representative Green gave them the example. The Democrats are not meeting the moment."

Hostin warned that the stakes were high, citing issues such as Medicaid, Social Security, and public safety.

"It is very clear that Medicaid is on the table. It is very clear that Social Security is on the table. It is very clear that people will die," she said. "The Baby Boomers, the civil rights generation — they knew what they had to do. They were willing to fight and die for their rights."

In her view, current members of Congress are not rising to the occasion. "This generation of Congress, they are not meeting the moment. This is an existential crisis."

This is not the first time Hostin has made headlines with her rhetoric. In the lead-up to the 2024 election, she sparked controversy by claiming that Trump was preparing to execute a modern-day version of Kristallnacht, the 1938 Nazi Party's violent pogrom against Jews in Germany.

On the anniversary of the January 6th Capitol riot, Hostin compared the event to historical atrocities such as the Holocaust and slavery, calling the Capitol breach "one of the worst moments in American history."
