Rina Matzliach, a former correspondent for Israel's Channel 12 News, announced Sunday morning that her personal Telegram account had been hacked, and that Iranian actors were behind the breach.
Matzliach turned to her followers on X with an urgent warning, writing: "Important message: Iranians hacked my Telegram. Anyone who receives a message from me should know it's not me and not to respond. Thank you."
Breaches of Telegram accounts and social-media profiles belonging to Israeli public figures and journalists have become a familiar phenomenon in recent years. Hostile cyber operatives frequently use compromised accounts to spread phishing messages, disinformation or malicious content to the victim's contacts.
Matzliach is currently working to regain access to the account, and is urging anyone who sees the warning not to click on links or reply to suspicious messages sent in her name.
