A deputy sheriff in East Texas experienced an unexpected fright when a deer lying motionless on the roadside suddenly sprang to its feet just as he approached.
The incident was recorded on the patrol vehicle's dashboard camera and shared by Trinity County Sheriff Woody Wallace. The footage shows the deputy cautiously walking toward the deer to assess its condition. Just as he reaches the animal, it abruptly rises, startling the officer who lets out a yell and jumps back toward his patrol car. Once he recovers from the shock, he can be heard laughing and saying, "Okay, we're good."
According to Sheriff Wallace, the deer made a complete recovery and later fled into the nearby woods. The sheriff joked that "instead of getting a ticket, the suspect escaped on all fours," adding that it was "another night shift where anything can happen."
