A 35-year-old Brooklyn resident has been charged with multiple hate crimes after allegedly hurling antisemitic threats at an Orthodox Jewish family and physically assaulting the father as they walked home from synagogue on Shabbat.
The incident occurred around 11:20 p.m. on January 9, 2026, near Nostrand and Willoughby avenues in Bedford-Stuyvesant. According to police reports, Ishrae Summers followed the 26-year-old man, his wife, and their four young children, ages 6 months, 2, 4, and 6, while shouting threats including, “I’m gonna kill you Jews,” “I’m gonna kill your kids and choke your kids,” and “Your kids are dead tonight.”
Prosecutors said Summers then punched the father in the head and chest. The victim reportedly stayed behind to protect his family while calling 911. No injuries were reported.
