Israel Police announced today that prosecutors filed charges against three minors from northern Israel for stabbing a peer in Tiberias, stemming from a verbal dispute during a school trip. The incident, which occurred on May 22, 2025, left the victim, a minor, in moderate condition after being stabbed in the back, requiring hospitalization. According to police, the altercation began days earlier during a school outing, where a heated argument broke out between the suspects and the victim’s friends but initially ended without violence.

On the day of the attack, the three suspects aged 15, 16, and 17 spotted the victim with his friends, whom they had clashed with previously. After a brief exchange, the group assaulted the victim, with one or more stabbing him, police said. Authorities launched an investigation immediately after receiving a report via the 100 emergency hotline. Two suspects, aged 16 and 17, were arrested the following day, and the 15-year-old was detained two days later. The Northern District Prosecution, led by attorney Mai Saker, submitted the indictment to the Tiberias Magistrate’s Court last week, charging the trio with assault and causing bodily harm.

The police emphasized their commitment to combating violent crime, stating, “The Northern District Police conduct extensive operations against violent offenses, employing covert actions to prevent crime and rapid responses to incidents through constant presence.” This case highlights rising concerns over youth violence in Israel, with a 2024 Ministry of Education report noting a 12% increase in school-related conflicts involving physical aggression. Community leaders in Tiberias have called for enhanced mediation programs to address such disputes before they escalate. The incident also coincides with broader national tensions, including ongoing security operations in Gaza, where 58 hostages remain captive, adding to the public’s sense of unease.
