Israel Police cleared for publication Monday the arrest of a 42-year-old West Bank resident who had been on the run since summer 2023 following a violent home invasion in Holon. The suspect was apprehended by IDF forces operating in Judea and Samaria.
During a routine identity check in the field, forces discovered that the suspect had an active arrest warrant and was listed as a fugitive wanted for serious criminal investigation. He was transferred through the Hashmonaim checkpoint to Modiin Illit police station in the Judea and Samaria District, which coordinated his swift handover to investigators from the Central Unit of the Tel Aviv District.
The suspect was brought before Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court, where police requested an extension of his detention to complete the investigation. After reviewing the evidence and classified material, the court granted the request and extended his detention until October 22, 2026.
The case dates back to August 14, 2023, when a gang of criminals arrived at a residential apartment on Degania Street in Holon, where the victim, a 37-year-old man, was present.
The suspects, who had planned the operation carefully, employed a sophisticated and brutal method: they arrived at the apartment door dressed as police officers in official-looking attire, and presented the shocked homeowner with a fake, fabricated search warrant.
The moment the door opened, the suspects handcuffed the apartment owner, pointed a pistol at him and began using severe physical violence against him, threatening his life and demanding he provide them with the code to open the home safe.
The victim, under severe duress and facing a real threat to his life, was forced to comply with their demands. After opening the safe, the gang members stole valuable luxury watches, gold jewelry and cash totaling over one million shekels. Immediately afterward, the suspects fled the scene with the stolen property.
Following the report of the home invasion, the investigation was assigned to the Central Unit of the Tel Aviv District.
In a comprehensive investigative effort conducted in a race against time, officers succeeded in tracing the operation and uncovering the identities of the main individuals involved in carrying out the robbery. Already during August 2023, detectives raided various locations and arrested several suspects in the case. Upon completion of the evidence foundation, the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office filed serious indictments against two of the main perpetrators. However, the third suspect, the 42-year-old West Bank resident, managed to evade the wave of arrests and disappeared. A judicial arrest warrant was issued against him in court and he was officially defined as a fugitive, until the circle of justice closed yesterday with his arrest in the territories.
