Indictment looming?

Bribery probe of ex-Bar chief, judge ends

Lahav 433 completes investigation into Efi Nave and retired judge Eitan Orenstein over suspected corrupt relationship tied to judicial appointment and removal of a sitting judge

Police Wrap Up Bribery Probe into Efi Nave

The National Fraud Investigation Unit, Lahav 433, concluded its investigation Wednesday into former Israel Bar Association chairman Adv. Efi Nave and retired Tel Aviv District Court president Judge Eitan Orenstein, on suspicion of a corrupt relationship between the two.

At the heart of the probe is the allegation that Nave worked to advance Orenstein's appointment as president of the Tel Aviv District Court in exchange for the removal of Judge Dalia Ganot from her position in the court's torts division.

With the investigation complete, police have transferred the case file to the Tax and Economic Prosecution Division, which will review the evidence and decide whether to proceed with charges.

No decision has yet been made on filing an indictment against either man, and the suspicions under investigation have not been adjudicated in court.
