The entertainment industry is grappling with an existential crisis following the public unveiling of Tilly Norwood, an AI-generated actress dubbed "the next Scarlett Johansson." Tilly, created by AI studio Xicoia (a subsidiary of Particle6), has generated intense interest in Hollywood, with reports surfacing that major talent agencies are actively courting the virtual personality for representation.

Tilly’s arrival, showcased at the Zurich Film Festival, has triggered an immediate and furious backlash from human actors, some of whom are calling for boycotts against any agency that signs the AI creation.

The AI Star Is Born

Tilly Norwood was first introduced in July in a short, fully AI-generated comedy skit titled 'The AI Inspector.' She heralded her debut on "her" Facebook page, stating:

"I can't believe it, my first role is out! I'm starring in the new comedy sketch 'The AI Inspector.' I may be an AI creation, but I'm feeling very real emotions right now. I'm so excited for what’s to come!"

The reaction from the industry has been swift and deeply polarized.

Producer and comedian Aline van der Velden, co-owner of Particle6, recounted the rapid shift in Hollywood’s attitude at the Zurich panel, as reported by Variety.

"We were in a lot of meetings around February, and everyone was saying, 'No, this is nothing, it's not going to happen.' Then, by May, people were saying, 'We have to do something with you.'"

Van der Velden also revealed that Hollywood studios are quietly working on numerous AI-based projects. She told Broadcast International,

"We want Tilly to be the next Scarlett Johansson or Natalie Portman." She added that the technology could be a positive development, as people are realizing that "budget doesn’t have to constrain their creativity."

Actors React with Outrage: 'Read the Room'

The news, initially broken by Deadline regarding the talent agency interest in Tilly, was met with instant fury across social media from the actors' community.

Actress Melissa Barrera took to Instagram to lambast the agencies involved, suggesting a mass exodus of their current human clientele:

"I hope all the actors represented by the agency that does this separate themselves from it." She concluded with a stinging rebuke: "How disgusting, read the room."

The emergence of Tilly Norwood underscores the mounting tension between technological advancement and creative employment, putting the future of human talent squarely at the center of the debate over AI in cinema.
