Foreign airlines: Here's how Israel can bring us back

The constant cancellations and delays in foreign airlines servicing Israel have led to many frustrated travelers and skyrocketing prices. Is there a way out during the war?

Ever since the war began on October 7, travel to and from Israel has been increasingly difficult and expensive. Major companies, especially low-cost ones, have cancelled and ended service for days, weeks, months, and even years. This forces Israelis to rely on expensive Israeli flights in non-competitive conditions.

Now a collection of foreign airline companies has proposed a number of measures which will reduce the cost of servicing the country during wartime and frequent emergencies, according to Globes.

They have sent a letter to the Knesset Economy Committee proposing that companies only be required to pay partial compensation for cancelled flights, as opposed to full compensation as the law requires now.

Furthermore, they propose that companies only be required to provide an alternative flight for cancelled ones up to a certain sum, to minimize the often exorbitant losses they incur with the cancellations and compensation.

These companies, which include major low-cost ones such as EasyJet and WizAir, say that providing this sort of legal stability and reduced cost will help them return to Israel more consistently.
