A Jerusalem Faction protest in Bnei Brak turned violent an hour after it began, with police firing stun grenades at demonstrators. At least two protesters required medical treatment.

Police declared the demonstration illegal. "A police officer on the ground declared the protest unlawful, and despite attempts at dialogue, rioters continue to gather at the site while shouting at police forces. Police forces are continuing operations," the Israel Police said in a statement.

The protest, held in the afternoon, was called following the arrest last week of yeshiva bochur Alon Samadja. It took place on the instructions of Rav Tzvi Friedman shlita, amid claims of a planned wave of arrests targeting bochurim who have not reported for army service.

Samadja, a talmid at Yeshivas Tiferes Shraga in Yerushalayim, was arrested last week at his home in the Beit Vegan neighborhood. According to reports, military police officers called him claiming a package was waiting for him at the building entrance; when he came down, he was arrested.

Police had prepared in advance for possible traffic disruptions and road closures on Highway 4, from Aluf Sadeh to Em HaMoshavot in both directions, as well as traffic congestion on Jabotinsky Street in Bnei Brak.
