Tragedy in the Catskills: R’ Yitzchok Dovid Vann Z”L Killed in Devastating House Fire
A fast-moving fire in Bloomingburg claimed the life of beloved community member R’ Yitzchok Dovid Vann Z”L on Wednesday night. Hatzolah units were able to save three Torah scrolls from the blaze, which remains under investigation.

With deep sadness, the Catskills community mourns the loss of R’ Yitzchok Dovid Vann Z”L, who was tragically killed in a fast-moving house fire on Wednesday night.The blaze broke out in a residence in Bloomingburg. Catskills Hatzolah responded rapidly to the scene.
Boruch Hashem, all three Sifrei Torah that were in the home were successfully rescued and saved from the fire.
R’ Yitzchok Dovid Vann Z”L, 64, formerly served as president of Congregation Ahavat Achim in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. He was the son of Shirley E. and Avrom R. Vann.The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
