Luxury Pesach Program in Marrakesh Turns into Passover Nightmare for Guests

Luxury prices, Fyre Festival vibes. The Marvaco 2026 Pesach program in Marrakesh collapsed into a "Passover Nightmare" with food shortages, no matzah, and chaotic logistics. Here's why furious families are calling it a $20,000 scam.

What was billed as a high-end, glatt-kosher Pesach getaway at the Zephyr Targa Hotel has left dozens of families furious, claiming they paid luxury prices for what felt more like a logistical collapse.

The Marvaco Pesach Program 2026, which ran from April 1–12, promised five-star accommodations, gourmet dining, organized programming, and a “warm, unforgettable Yom Tov experience” under Beit Yosef supervision. Many families shelled out $10,000 to over $20,000 for the trip, expecting the full upscale Pesach treatment in an exotic location.

Instead, participants are calling it a "disaster" or "scam-level fail" with widespread complaints:

One recurring complaint: the main shipping container loaded with kosher food from Israel was held up in Moroccan customs and arrived late. Organizers allegedly knew about the delay but didn’t secure adequate local backups in time.

Social media and Jewish forums lit up after the holiday with videos, photos, and raw testimonials. In Passover Program Reviews groups on Facebook and on sites like COLlive and YeahThatsKosher, guests vented about feeling “suckered,” “starved,” and trapped in a foreign country during a holiday when options outside the program are extremely limited. Some even compared it, only half-jokingly, to a kosher version of the Fyre Festival.

Not every attendee walked away angry, a handful posted mixed or positive notes about the scenery and some moments with family, but the volume of frustration has been overwhelming. Several are now exploring chargebacks, refunds, or warnings to others about booking with this operator next year.

Defenders of the program point to genuine external challenges: customs delays possibly tied to regional tensions, staffing shortages, and the inherent difficulty of running a large-scale glatt kosher operation in Morocco. They note that Marvaco had reportedly pulled off smoother programs in previous years. Organizers have not issued a detailed public response yet.

This is a developing situation. Many affected families are still processing the experience and deciding on next steps.
