Israeli singer Sasson Shaulov has been indicted in connection with a traffic collision that injured three young passengers in central Tel Aviv last month.
The Traffic Prosecution Division charged Shaulov with running a red light, reckless driving, and causing damage. According to the indictment filed with Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court, the incident occurred early on July 3 when Shaulov was driving a BMW on Herzl Street.
Prosecutors allege that at approximately 1:58 a.m., Shaulov approached the intersection with Jaffa Road and entered against a red signal, striking a Hyundai that was proceeding lawfully through the intersection. Three young passengers were in the Hyundai, with the driver sustaining injuries in the crash. One passenger was hospitalized for treatment.
The indictment states that Shaulov "drove recklessly by failing to pay attention to the road, not noticing the traffic light in his path or the other vehicle in close proximity in sufficient time." Prosecutors emphasize that the traffic signal system was functioning properly at the time of the collision.
Shaulov was not injured in the crash. Police launched a comprehensive investigation immediately after the collision, questioning both drivers and passengers.
