Gottlieb Warns PM on Justice Post

Knesset member who placed 12th in Likud primaries says prime minister would make "serious mistake" if he doesn't appoint her to cabinet role

Tally Gotliv

Knesset member Tally Gotliv, who secured the 12th spot in Likud's recent primary elections, is escalating her public confrontation with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over a potential cabinet appointment.

Following earlier statements Tuesday in which she accused the Prime Minister's Office of attempting to undermine her candidacy, she has now issued a stark warning to Netanyahu regarding her political ambitions: "Netanyahu would be making a serious mistake if he doesn't appoint me as justice minister."

In recent months, the Prime Minister's Office has repeatedly issued briefings cautioning against Gotliv and urging Likud members not to support her in the primaries, according to reports.

Sources familiar with the matter suggest the opposition stems from concerns that she is "too independent" and that Netanyahu fears she would not align consistently with the party line if given a senior ministerial position.
